LEGEND OF DESTRUCTION

EPIC MOVIE LEGEND OF DESTRUCTION DROPS 15/09/26: iTunes, Google Play, and Amazon Prime

“I felt like I was watching Gladiator.” – Actor Oscar Isaac “All the characters are right, and all are dancing straight to hell.” – Filmmaker Gidi Dar

The animated epic movie Legend of Destruction, the true story that changed the course of ancient world history in 70CE - featuring Hollywood stars Oscar Isaac, Elliott Gould, Evangeline Lilly and Billy Zane, will be released worldwide on TUESDAY 15 SEPTEMBER 2026 – In the UK on VOD itunes, Google Play, and Amazon Prime.

Making cinema history, Legend of Destruction is made with over 1,500 hauntingly beautiful and shocking original paintings, depicting the 2,000-year-old historical saga. The dramatic 90-minute feature film is the chilling story of a city gone mad, as the young naive Ben Batich (voiced by Oscar Isaac) is sucked into an ideological war where the end can only be the destruction of everything he holds dear. The intensity of Ben’s violence within his spiralling corrupted society, to lead a bloody revolt, erupting to civil war, cruel occupation, and ultimately the horrifying Roman levelling of Jerusalem and its Second Temple - makes Legend of Destruction a uniquely dark must-see cinematic experience.

Oscar Isaac (Ben Batich) says “Suddenly, within minutes, I didn’t realise the beautiful paintings were still images anymore. I felt like I was watching Gladiator. The moment that you get into the Temple, and you hear that incredible music, and see the nature of the sacrifices, you get transported immediately”.

Billy Zane (Bar Giora) “I lead a gang of robbers who steal from the rich and give to the poor, like an ancient warrior Robin Hood. I'm a fan of animation and of art, but I've never seen a film made entirely of still images which is somehow even more classic than anime.”

Elliott Gould (Rabbi Yochanan ben Zakkai) says "Legend of Destruction is something that goes on in the world constantly. Every generation, every millennium. It seems to be part of nature. I don't consider this to be an animated movie. I consider it to be a work of art, using works of art to make images. In one word: Wow, wow wow wow wow.”

Evangeline Lilly (Queen Berenice) says “It’s a tragic, painful, but deeply truthful film. It feels like no one is willing to extend a hand to stop the slide. This film is a warning signal for the modern world.”

Eight years in the making, Legend of Destruction’s film maker Gidi Dar (Ushpizin) and Oscar nominated artists David Polonsky and Michael Faust drew their inspiration from multiple styles from the history of art in their “painted movie” – from Caravaggio, first century Egyptian art on mummified bodies, to Edvard Munch, Renaissance portraiture and a nod to Francis Bacon’s smeared faces for “a moment of pure grotesque violence”.
